A World of Dog Breeds

Humans have created a variety of looks in dogs through breeding and cross breeding. Many of these canine breeds are recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), American Kennel Club (AKC) and kennel clubs all over the world.

Dog breeds are usually grouped by bred function such as sporting dogs, hounds, working dogs, terriers, toy breed, non-sporting dogs, herding dogs and miscellaneous classification.

Dog breeds can vary in color: black, tan, white, brown, red, blue and sand colour. Canine hair coat can be catagorized as soft, rough, smooth, silky, longhaired, shorthaired, wirehaired or hairless. Canine breed can also vary in size: giant, standard, miniature, toy, teacup.
