Holistic Pet Remedies: Yeast Infection, Candida
Yeast or fungal infection in animals is a sign of immune deficiency and stress, similar to yeast infection in human with candida albicans.
In healthy mammals, a certain amount of yeast coexists with us, inside our digestive system and outside on the skin, in perfect harmony. Proper acid/alkaline balance in the blood, good bacteria in our stomach, healthy enzyme activities and flowing vital energy work together to maintain healthy skin and a balanced, life-supportive amount of microorganisms inside our gut and body.
When this vital balance is disrupted, our pet's health is compromised. Conventional antibiotics (spaying, neutering, surgeries, treating infections) kill all micro-organisms in our gastrointestinal tract and body, good or bad. The lack of enzymes manufactured by these symbiotic bacteria (when in balance) alters our pet's internal pH and biochemistry, making him/her susceptible to yeast and imbalanced bacterial growth.
When this is coupled with a weak, stressed or confused immune system, mostly due to vaccinations but also processed pet foods (dead food), drugs, chemicals, emotional and household stress (e.g. improper pack order), energetic changes occur within our pet which alter his/her bio-terrain further.
Yeast, often the candida species, simply responds to its changing living environment (your pet's bio-terrain) and evolve, mutate and proliferate, unfortunately, into a form that is non-supportive to our pet's health. The most common occurrence, though not exclusively, is on the skin and in the urogenital areas.
Signs of yeast infection:
- very itchy skin or genital areas
- yellow discharge and dry crusts
- yeasty smell
There are a few things we must do to reverse the bio-terrain that invites yeast and bacterial mutation:
- Kill existing yeast infestation and associated bacterial growth without further harming good bacteria in the gut and body.
- Relieve itch for your pet.
- Clean existing yeast growth, dry crusts and oily skin. Even though the skin should be cleaned, it should be moisturized at the same time. Oily skin is a sign of skin dehydration, therefore the sebaceous gland excretes more than normal oil to counteract the internal dryness. If we simply clean the oil, leaving the skin even drier, a viscious circle will continue.
- Rebuild friendly gut flora to rebalance the digestive tract's beneficial bacterial count, pH and biochemistry.
- Rebuild immune system and avoid further immuno-suppressive and immuno-compromised foods, drugs and chemicals.
- Replenish nutritional deficiency with fresh, natural and live foods, as well as supplements such as natural sources of vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, enzymes and essential fatty acids.
- Correct any stressful triggers for your pets. This may involve a pet behavourist (not an obedience trainer!) and custom vibrational essences blend.
Our 100% natural Yeast Infection Remedy Kit and partner remedies and supplements are designed to address the above issues, holistically.
Suitable for dog, puppy, cat, kitten, horse, farm, wild, zoo and all pet animals with similar symptoms.
If yeast, fungus, bacteria, parasites, itching or skin problems are a constant companion to your pet, despite veterinarian medicine and natural remedies, order our Holistic Pet Wellness Consultation to address deep seated systemic imbalances and deficiencies to ensure long term health and immune quality.

STANLEY - CAT WITH SEVERE YEAST & BACTERIA INFECTION ON SKIN
Stanley, a 7 year old ragdoll cat, has been battling with demodectic mites, ear mites, yeast and bacteria infection for over 2 years. Since Stanley almost died from a lime sulphur dip treatment, and all vet and even natural programs did not work long for him, the person wanted a gentler natural program for Stanley.
Stanley's case is quite severe, so we incorporated custom nutritional remedies, plus WildPets Skin Trouble Natural Shampoo and WildPets BIO Defense for Stanley. Now Stanley has used other brands of natural shampoos with 'seemingly' similar ingredients before but did not get the same results. Here is the feedback regarding the shampoo:
"Used your shampoo the last two weeks. I immediately can tell the difference. His coat has more moisture. There is less yeast surrounding his claws. I actually will apply it to his paws prior to the shampoo and it is really helping."
"In general, he is licking quite a bit less and sleeps through the night now - yeah. He is so much happier! Greatly reduced in my estimation (yeast & bacteria). We are definitely on the right track."

HEALING TIPS
- Consider switching to human-grade raw, semi-raw or cooked diet (organic raw is best). Feed your pets as much "live" foods as possible, there is very little life force in processed foods.
- Avoid excess salt, refined sugars and carbohydrates.
- If your dog or cat is a fussy eater, try unseasoned cooked chicken (or turkey, ground lamb, ground beef, boneless cooked fish), real chicken soup, mashed pumpkin (any fibrous squash) and steamed rice initially to stimulate appetite and help settle the stomach. Add mashed broccoli later for added nutrients. Feel free to give grated raw or cooked veggies and fruit pieces (organic best, avoid nightshade veggies) that your pet enjoys and that his/her tummy can handle. Add new diet 25% at a time, 3-4 days at a time, to switch over.
- Build up your pet's immune system and biological terrain with our herbal and nutritional supplements.
- Probiotics (WildPets G.I. Revitalizer) is absolutely essential to rebuild stomach bacteria destroyed by pathogens, parasites, chemical antibiotics, drugs and processed pet food.
- Clean your home and bedding thoroughly with very hot water and soap if there are parasites. Steam clean carpet. Vaccuum and clean bedding regularly to reduce extent of infestation.
- Use holistic remedies and therapies whenever possible. Avoid surgery if possible. Avoid vaccinations, chemical flea and dewormer programs, and chemical flea home treatment (see our Flea page for more info).
- Regular detox is essential to good body house-keeping. Detox twice a year for optimum maintenance.
Note: Response to remedies and supplements varies by individuals and individual cases. If these products do not give complete healing, your pet may need one-on-one wholistic attention through our holistic consultation or consultation with a veterinarian.
