CeraVet Rice-Based Electrolyte Powder Mix (50g)

CeraVet Rice-Based Electrolyte Powder Mix (50g)

All-natural, rice-based CeraVet is formulated to rapidly replace, in correct proportion and concentration, water and electrolytes lost by animals during illness, accident, exercise or from heat. CeraVet is ideal for rapidly relieving dehydration in companion animals.

Suitable for dog, cat, puppy, kitten, horse, farm, wild, zoo and all pet animals with similar symptoms.

The long-chain carbohydrates in CeraVet's patented rice and electrolyte base provide significant advantages over standard glucose-based animal rehydration approaches (e.g. Pedialyte, Gatorade, Pediatric Electrolyte), including:

  • Accelerated delivery of vital energy, salts and fluid from digestive tract

  • Reduced fluid loss

  • Increased water and electrolyte absorption

  • Reduces dehydration-related vomiting, diarrhea and weakness

  • Added nutritional benefit from complex carbohydrate-protein base (rice protein and other attributes that are inherent in rice), including Glutamine

Ingredients: Rice syrup solids, trisodium citrate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride. Gluten free.

Each 50g CeraVet powder or 1 Liter CeraVet reconstituted liquid offers: 160 Calories, 0g Fat, 3.4g Sodium, 1.3g Potassium, 40g Total Carbs, 0g Sugars, 0.5g Protein, Osmolarity <275 mOsm/L for fast absorption.

Natural/rice flavor - CeraVet Oral Hydration Drink has (per liter, reconstituted): Sodium at 70 mEq; Potassium at 20 mEq, Citrate at 30 mEq and chloride at 60 mEq; Can be mixed into hot or cold or lukewarm water.

Why use electrolyte replacement fluid?

Common sense suggests that the best treatment for dehydration is drinking water. However, significant electrolyte loss almost always accompanies water loss - so both electrolytes and water must be replaced.

Essential electrolytes, including an adequate supply of sodium, are needed to regulate the body's delicate fluid balance and to maintain good circulation. Too little fluid volume, or hypovolemia, can cause shock, stroke or cardiac arrest (heart attack). Repeated episodes of dehydration or serious dehydration can permanently harm organ functioning, especially early or late in life.

Not every liquid rehydrates correctly. Water does not have the needed electrolytes; sugary or salty drinks (or foods) can make the problem worse. CeraVet replaces fluid losses with a composition that is similar to what was lost. In addition, CeraVet replaces volume quickly, and can be taken on a regular basis, before the problem becomes serious.

Usage Instructions:

CeraVet can be mixed with hot, lukewarm or cold water, even frozen as treats. Mix with natural soup broth or juice for extra flavor (whatever your pet fancies). CeraVet is safe to use so let your pet drink freely the amount of fluids s/he needs. In general, if a pet looses 4 oz of fluid through diarrhea or vomiting, give 4 oz or more of CeraVet replacement fluid.

Reconstituted fluids should be used within several hours if stored in room temperature. Refrigerate unused fluid in a clean sealed container; discard all unused solution after 48 hours. The product can become contaminated, much like milk, from bacteria or mold in the air or water and become unsuitable to drink if allowed to stand for longer periods. Reconstituted CeraVet can be stored frozen up to 1 week.

Opened packet CeraVet powder can be stored up to 1 week in the refrigerator if the packet is folded over and then stored in a clean sealed plastic bag. An unsealed open packet (not yet mixed with water) should not be used beyond a day if left in room temperature.

For dehydration and electrolyte loss: 50g CeraVet packet makes 1L of replacement fluid. If you have a small pet, mix the quantity of liquid that you think you need (e.g. 1/4 packet makes 1 cup). Let your pet drink freely. For small pets, use a dropper to feed.

Give CeraVet hydration fluid until your pet has completely stabilized, eating and drinking on his/her own for a week, and passing pale yellow urine with good flow every 2-4 hours.

For after seizure care or diabetic care: Give CeraVet fluid freely, as above, for a few days to a week after each seizure to replace electrolyte loss.

For sports drink: 50g CeraVet makes 4L of sweat replacement fluid. Frozen CeraVet cubes are a favorite during hot weather after a walk, run or hike.

For nutritional supplement: Give reconstituted fluid to drink, add to food or add powder to food.

Caution: In animals with renal failure, potassium is present in CeraVet.
