While we, at Gentlecare Natural Pet Products, do not sell any pet food, we wish to alert our customers of the following pet food recall which affects multiple brands of pet food in Canada and the United States.
Pet food brands affected are:
- Diamond Naturals
- Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul
- Country Value
- Taste of the Wild
- Premium Edge
- 4Health Apex
- Kirkland Signature
- Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain
- Solid Gold
- Natural Balance
Please go to http://diamondpetrecall.com/recall-home/ for their detailed information.
These pet food brands are all manufactured by mass production plants, in this case by the Diamond Pet Foods company. This is one reason, amongst many, that we recommend our clients to either make their own natural pet food or purchase from small local reputable companies who make their pet food in small batches.
It is also very important to feed a fresh, natural diet with the proper food groups proportion for your pets. Otherwise, ailments will develop as a result of imbalance even if the diet is organic. Unfortunately, we are seeing more of these cases where pet parents are embracing a meat-based diet with incorrect food groups proportions, and coming to us for serious ailments related to this.
While an organic, raw balanced diet is considered the best in the holistic pet world, not all animals can tolerate such a diet, especially those who has pre-existing illnesses, digestive weakness, with weak yang energy, weak yin energy or weak qi (vital force). This does not mean you need to rely on 'dead' processed pet food but you need to adjust the raw pet diet to your pet's health situation.
If you are concerned with your pet's diet, our Holistic Pet Wellness Consultation will be your best option to get an experienced pet nutritional expert to custom design a diet that is suitable for your pet's unique health condition.
In good health, Pearl Kam, Pet Wellness Coach.
On May 10, 2012, we sent an email to inform pet parents we know about the Diamond Pet Food Recall 2012. To our surprise, many emailed us that their pets have been mysteriously ill recently and that they are on the pet food brand recall listed. (And we thought perhaps most people know about his already.) Due to the overwhelming emails and phone calls asking for solutions, we are sending 1 more email in response to your most common questions relating to this food alert.
Q. What should I do if my pet is eating a brand of pet food on the recall list?
A. First thing, stop feeding your pet these brands of food. Go to the http://diamondpetrecall.com/recall-home/ website, read their information and find out if your brand of pet food, geographic location, etc. are affected. You can also find out from their site how to get a refund on your product. New information is being released periodically so stay tuned to their website for the latest recall news. We will only inform our customers if new brands are being affected.
Q. If my pet is sick, what can we do?
A. Obviously, if your pet is experiencing emergency symptoms, visit your local veterinarian. If your pet's symptoms are not an emergency, and you prefer to use natural remedies and solutions, fill out our free QUICK Holistic Pet Assessment so we can review whether you can get by with off the shelf products or if you need a custom consultation. This greatly depends on your pet's symptoms and whether underlying illnesses are triggered as a result of this episode. If you wish to learn how to make a BALANCED natural homemade diet for your pet, you will need the Holistic Pet Wellness Consultation.
Q. My pet is not just having diarrhea, but is having other symptoms as well, what should I do?
A. Animals with pre-existing weakness such as seizure tendencies, kidneys problems, liver problems, digestive ailments (colitis, pancreatitis, irritable bowel), diabetes, thyroid problems, low immunity, etc. may experience elevated symptoms due to the stress created by spoiled pet food.
For these individuals, it is best to book a Holistic Pet Wellness Consultation so we can analyse the whole health picture, so we can recommend the appropriate solutions for your pet, not just for the food poisoning but also for the underlying problems now being worsened.
Q. Can I send your email alert to my friends?
A. Yes. Please do let as many pet parents know about the food recall as possible. When we send the alert out, we thought most people know about this already but just in case we should send it out. Good thing we did. When we get flooded with email about this, we realize most people DO NOT know about it! So go ahead and forward our email alert to your friends and family, as is, with no alteration. Just don't spam anyone.
Q. How can I Tweet or Facebook my friends with this article?
